What makes a good target
The detector converts your artwork to greyscale and looks for corner-like points that stay recognisable at any angle, distance and rotation. Colour itself contributes nothing.
Tracks well
- Dense, irregular, non-repeating detail across the whole image.
- High luminance contrast — light against dark, not just hue against hue.
- Sharp edges and fine texture: photos, collages, busy illustration.
- Points in all four quadrants. The preview's dashed cross marks them.
Tracks badly
- Large flat fills, smooth gradients, soft focus or motion blur.
- Repeating or symmetric patterns — every tile looks like every other tile, so the pose ends up ambiguous.
- Vivid but isoluminant art: two saturated colours of the same brightness are one flat grey to the detector.
- Near-blank margins. A logo centred on white leaves three quadrants empty and the pose wobbles at glancing angles.
